ARMMENT HISTORY:

1861

Armed with six brass six pounders, which were hauled down from New Jersey with the unit.

1862

Four ten-pound rifled Parrott guns.

Two twelve-pound smoothbore howitzers.

First engagement: May 7th, West Point, Virginia.

Lost the Howitzers from the battle of Gaines’ Mill on June 29th through the battle of Antietam September 17th.

Added men from First New Jersey Volunteers Company “K”. (After South Mountain and Antietam—they were mostly Hoboken boys).

Two Parrott Rifled Cannons were issued to replace the Howitzers.

Nickname of the Battery is:  “German Battery”.  Because many of it’s members were drawn from the German-American population of Hoboken, New Jersey.

* It could be safely assumed that the issuing of Parrott’s & Howitzers, Revolvers and Sabers changed very little in the course of 1864.  Again, this is only an assumption.
