ARMMENT
HISTORY: |
|
1861 |
|
Armed
with six brass six pounders, which were hauled down from New Jersey with the
unit. |
|
1862 |
|
Four
ten-pound rifled Parrott guns. |
|
Two
twelve-pound smoothbore howitzers. |
|
First
engagement: May 7th, West Point, Virginia. |
|
Lost
the Howitzers from the battle of Gaines’ Mill on June 29th through
the battle of Antietam September 17th. |
|
Added
men from First New Jersey Volunteers Company “K”. (After South Mountain and
Antietam—they were mostly Hoboken boys). |
|
Two
Parrott Rifled Cannons were issued to replace the Howitzers. |
|
Nickname
of the Battery is: “German
Battery”. Because many of it’s
members were drawn from the German-American population of Hoboken, New
Jersey. |

1863 |
* It could be safely assumed that the issuing of Parrott’s & Howitzers, Revolvers and Sabers changed very little in the course of 1864. Again, this is only an assumption.
