New Jersey Volunteer Commanders.

  Forward

Goes to Regimental Histories Page

This is dedicated to the commanders of New Jersey men.  These men were not necessarily from New Jersey but they commanded the men from New Jersey.  Many were promoted to general in the regular army or brigadiered  into both volunteer and regular army and finally brigadiered in the volunteer army only.  Others remained a non-general grade officer, meaning colonel's, captain's and lieutenant's etc.

Objective:
To list the commanders of each New Jersey Regiment. However, many were promoted to lead other regiments and thus out of their original commands.  My goal is to place them with their last known rank in their last known commands and to also give their previous commands, e.g. Captains promoted to other regiments will have those original commands and ranks given, see below example of a promoted Captain.
